The Encyclopedic Guide To 78RPM Party Records

Ruth WALLIS
Born in Brooklyn, NY. Started singing with big bands such as Isham Jones. Stopped the show in "Scandia Revels" at the Queen Mary Restaurant in Feb., 1940. Featured as a single in a "One girl miniature musical comedy" at the Hotel Forrest in New York City in 1941. She wrote her own material which never really crossed the line of sophisticated entertainment. Married to Hy Pastman, manager of the Latin Quarter in Boston who became her manager. With him she inaugurated her own highly successful party label, vying with Larry Vincent for top sales honors. Died Dec. 22, 2007. She recorded her gently risqué tunes for legitimate labels and her entire 78 R.P.M. output is listed as completely as possible.
--Boston, ca. 1946. Mercury was active in acquiring material from independent operations and these may well be the same recordings listed in the National session following.
